Cllr Ruairí Ó Murchú, Sinn Fein Louth, Dundalk South


Ruairí Ó Murchú lives in Bay Estate in Dundalk. He grew up in Knockbridge and lived in Blackrock for a number of years. He went to primary school in Muirhevnamor, attending the Gael Scoil and St. Joseph’s NS, where his father, Gerry Murphy, was principal.

He is married to Annemarie, and is the proud father of 2 sons and 1 stepson.

Ruairí presently works for Sinn Féin’s election department. He has worked in several positions for the party, locally, regionally and in Leinster House.

He graduated from Dublin City University, with a BSc in Computer Applications and an MSc in Computing from Griffith College Dublin.

A dedicated political activist Ruairí aims to listen to and serve the community to the best of his ability as a public representative.

He is passionate about sports, and while very much a novice enjoys boxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu, kickboxing, running and mountain walking.

Ruairí is committed to the core Sinn Féin principles of Irish unity and creating a more just and equal society.

He was co-opted onto Louth County Council in September 2017 replacing long-standing councillor Kevin Meenan.

Ruairí Ó Murchú was also co-opted onto the Housing Community Planning and Emergency Services SPC (Special Policy Committee) on Louth County Council.
