Cllr Cunningham Hits out at Tyre Dumping in Tullyallen

Sinn Féin Councillor Tom Cunningham has hit out at people who dumped a number of tyres in the picturesque village of Tullyallen last week.

Cllr Cunningham said “there were a number of tyres dumped near to the entrance of the Glen Emmett’s GFC pitch on the Boyne Road in Tullyallen. Due to the number of tyres dumped, the people responsible must have had a van or a trailer.”

“These people have shown how little regard they have for this community or the environment in which we live. It is not good enough to think you can come into Tullyallen or indeed any village and dump whatever you want and expect someone else to clean up after you and to pay for the privilege. How dare they think that is ok.”

Cllr Cunningham also praised Louth County Council workers who “cleared these tyres away in a timely way. It’s not fair to expect council workers to have to do this but I appreciate that they did. While these workers were doing this, they could have been better employed doing other council work and it is us, the taxpayers, who are footing the bill for these dirty dumpers.”

Cllr Cunningham is determined not to allow this “scourge to continue in Louth” as there has been a number of incidents in the north of the county over the past twelve months. “I am asking that anyone who was in Tullyallen last Thursday or Friday and who seen anything suspicious around the Glen Emmett’s GFC, or seen a vehicle carrying tyres pulling in to please get in touch with Louth County Council or myself. Someone may have caught something on their dashcams or may be aware of who did this. This must not be allowed to continue or escalate.”
