Cllr Cassidy Calls For Care On Short Cut

Alan CassidySinn Féin Councillor Alan Cassidy has called for urgent action to be taken at Priest Lane and Congress Avenue to curb speeding cars using the road as a shortcut.

Cllr Cassidy said today “Motorists are using Priest Lane to avoid the traffic lights on Plattin Road. We can see how narrow it is especially when residents are parked outside their properties, which they are fully entitled to do”.

Cllr Cassidy continued “from around half past four until seven o’clock in the evening, there are cars driving too fast through the area. They don’t seem to realise or care that this is a small residential street. It is difficult for pedestrians to use the narrow footpaths or to try and cross the street”.

The Tullyallen Councillor intends to “table a motion at the next Municipal Council meeting in Drogheda asking them to look at all the options and any traffic measures that could be put in place to alleviate this problem”.
